Customer Support
Why do you not offer phone support?
Great question! We’ve found that email is the most efficient way for us to assist everyone, and it helps us keep our prices as low as possible. Our phones used to ring constantly, making it nearly impossible to serve walk-in customers or accomplish anything because every staff member was on the phone all day long. It was a disaster. Plus, we love chatting — so phone calls often turned into long conversations about everything from the weather to college football. Email helps us stay focused and respond faster. We really do check messages throughout the day, and you’ll usually hear back from us quickly — often even after hours. We truly appreciate your understanding as we strive to offer the best customer service possible.
Can you put my name on a stock notification list?
Yes! You can click “Add to Wishlist” on the product page to receive an email alert as soon as the item is back in stock. Just a heads-up — for high-demand or limited-quantity items, restocks can sell out again within minutes. We’re unable to hold products in advance, so we recommend acting quickly once you get the notification.
Can I get an ETA for when a product will be available again?
We totally understand wanting to know when a product will be back in stock — we wish we could tell you! Unfortunately, manufacturers and distributors rarely give us restock dates, and even when they do, the info is often uncertain. (Honestly, if they told us once, we’d probably bug them non-stop — and they know it!) The best way to stay in the loop is to use the “Add to Wishlist” option on the product page. That way, you’ll get an email notification as soon as it’s available again.
Do you offer discounts for military, law enforcement, or first responders?
As a veteran-owned and operated company, we deeply respect and honor the service and sacrifice of our military members, veterans, and first responders. Rather than offering specific discounts, we focus on keeping our prices below most others in the market. This ensures that everyone benefits from affordable options. Additionally, if you are seeing full MSRP listed, upon request, we provide customized quotes on nearly everything available. Our goal is to offer the best possible value to all, without compromising on quality.
Glock Blue Label Policy:
Please be aware that Glock Blue Label products are exclusively available in-store and cannot be shipped. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to maintain our pricing integrity while ensuring a seamless shopping experience.
Why are some items priced differently in your local store compared to your online website?
You may notice that prices for certain items — especially ammunition — are different between our local store and our website. In some cases, items available in-store may not be shown on our website, or if shown, are only shipped from our distributor and not from our store. Here’s why:
- Ammunition Pricing: We do offer ammunition online, but only from our distributor, who ships it directly to the customer. Except for special occasions, we do not ship ammunition from our in-store inventory. That means online ammo purchases do not require any handling or stocking by our team. In contrast, in-store ammunition must be received, priced, labeled, stocked, and sold by staff — all of which increases our cost. For this reason, the same brand and caliber may be priced higher in-store than online. Yes… this means you may be able to save a few bucks by ordering ammunition online and having if shipped directly to your door, since we don’t have the same amount of staff labor involved with the order.
- Different Inventory Sources: Many online items ship directly from distributors, while store inventory is stocked and handled by our staff. The additional labor and overhead in-store is reflected in the price, and is the reason why online items shipped to the store for in-store pickup, will have fees added.
- Distributor Price Changes: Prices from distributors may go up or down. If our store purchased an item before a price increase, we may still offer it at the original price — and vice versa. Unfortunately, we don’t receive credits for distributor price drops, so in-store prices may not fall in step with online prices.
- Website Typically Shows the Best Price: Our website typically displays the lowest available price (with some exceptions) — whether from our local store or from a distributor. If the store is out of stock and the distributor’s price is higher or lower, the price online will reflect that — and may increase or decrease accordingly.
- Occasional Local Deals: Sometimes we negotiate special pricing on in-store items that allows us to offer them for less than what’s available online. These deals may not be reflected on the website.
We always try to keep our prices competitive, but due to the differences in logistics, inventory sources, and handling, some variation between online and in-store pricing is unavoidable.
Ordering
Can I place an order by phone?
Not at this time. We are not set up to take phone orders. Part of the reason we are able to offer our super low prices is because we have the checkout process streamlined for online orders. It would take considerably more time and occupy an employee full time if we were to take phone orders, and we certainly could not offer the low prices we do now.
Do you sell used products or take trade-ins?
We don’t take trade-ins, but we do offer consignment services for firearms. Because of this — and thanks to occasional listings from our distributors — you’ll find used guns available on our site from time to time. Any used items will always be clearly labeled, so if it is not described as used, it will be factory new.
Payments / Processing
Can I mail you payment for my order?
We’re not able to accept mailed payments, mainly because of the risks involved. Holding products while waiting on the mail can lead to delays, lost payments, or even fraud — all of which create challenges for both us and our customers. For security and efficiency, we only accept debit and credit card payments through our website, or in person for in-store purchases. Thanks for understanding!
Do you charge credit card or debit card fees?
No, we do not charge additional fees for using a debit or credit card.
Why are there still pending charges on my credit card?
What you’re seeing is an authorization hold — it’s a temporary charge your bank places to verify the payment method. It’s not an actual withdrawal, and it will drop off automatically. We don’t have control over these holds, but your card issuer can give you more details if needed.
Can you accept multiple cards for payment?
Yes, we allow multiple cards for purchases.
Do you collect sales tax?
We only collect sales tax for orders with a billing and shipping address in Alabama. If you’re purchasing in-store or having an item shipped to Crenshaw County, Alabama, the sales tax rate is 10.5%. For other areas in Alabama, it’s 4%. If you’re outside of Alabama, we do not collect sales tax at this time.
Do you offer layaway or financing?
We don’t offer layaway or financing at this time. With our already low margins, layaway just isn’t a practical. As for financing, we’ve looked into several options, but many come with terms we wouldn’t feel right recommending to our customers. We’re always keeping an eye out for better solutions, and we’ll be sure to share if that ever changes.
Shipping & Delivery
Do you ship to California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Washington?
Yes, we do ship to California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Washington — but only for products that are compliant with your state’s laws. Since regulations can vary and change often, we recommend double-checking with your local FFL dealer, as they’re usually well-versed in the specific laws for your area.
Do you ship to Alaska or Hawaii?
Yes, but extra shipping costs and restrictions may apply. Please contact us for details before ordering.
Will I get a tracking number once my order ships?
Yes, you’ll receive a tracking number by email when your order ships. Be sure to add info@thegunshopusa.com to your whitelist, as some service providers will block emails with tracking links.
How long does it take you to ship an order?
Most local orders ship within 1–2 business days, depending on order volume and any required FFL processing. Orders that ship from our distribution warehouses usually go out within a day or two, though in some cases it may take up to 4–5 business days. During the holiday season, a few extra days may be needed. We always do our best to get your order out as quickly as possible! You’ll also receive a tracking email once your order ships.
Why does shipping seem high for some magazines and accessories?
If shipping seems higher than expected on certain magazines or accessories, it’s often because the items are coming from different distribution warehouses. Since those locations are in different cities, we can’t always combine the shipments — and each one may carry its own shipping charge.
One helpful tip: our website always shows you the item from the distribution warehouse with the lowest product price, but sometimes an item may be available at a slightly higher price from a warehouse that’s already shipping something else in your order. Shoot us an email and we may be able to combine the shipments and refund part of the shipping cost. We’re happy to help if we can!
Will you swap out or remove high-capacity magazines for my state’s compliance?
We’re not able to swap magazines, but if the product is shipping from our local store, we can remove the high-capacity magazine(s) upon request. Please note that no discount is offered for removed magazines, and we cannot ship them to a separate address.
Our distribution warehouses aren’t able to remove or modify anything, but if needed, we can arrange to have the firearm routed through our local store for removal — just be aware that an extra shipping fee may apply for this option. We’re happy to help where we can within the limits of compliance!
Why is a particular firearm restricted for my state?
We’re often asked why a certain firearm is marked as restricted on our site, even though it’s technically approved by the state. The short answer is: we don’t decide what’s restricted — we simply follow the guidelines set by states, manufacturers, and distributors.
In many cases, the reason a firearm is restricted comes down to the specific SKU (stock keeping unit). For example, a gun may include a magazine that exceeds capacity limits or a configuration that isn’t compliant in your state — even if the firearm itself is on the approved list. It’s also possible the item was recently approved and our system hasn’t caught up yet, or there may be an error we need to fix.
With laws constantly changing — and some states having very specific compliance rules — it can be difficult to track every detail across the country. That’s why we always recommend checking with your local FFL dealer first. They’ll know whether the firearm in question can legally be transferred to you.
If your FFL dealer confirms they’ll accept the transfer and the item isn’t restricted for any other reason, just let us know — we’ll be happy to flag your account to bypass state restrictions for that purchase.ou can also review state-specific compliance info on our State Restrictions page.
FFL & Transfers
What are your local in-store transfer fees?
Check out our transfers page for all the pertinent information you’ll need, including a copy of our FFL.
How can I get my FFL dealer on your list?
Our FFL list syncs directly from the ATF’s database, so most FFL dealers are already listed in our system — unless they’re newly licensed or their information is listed differently. Double-check the spelling and make sure you’re searching by the official license name. If you still can’t find them, your dealer can simply email us a copy of their FFL. Once we verify it, they’ll be added to our system and ready to go!
There are a few FFL dealers listed below that we will not ship to for various reasons.
- Hart Sports – Plano, TX
- X-RING SUPPLY – Newark, DE
- Texas Legends – Allen, TX
- Dahlonega Gold and Pawn – Dahlonega, GA
- Vancouver Rifle & Pistol Club – Vancouver, WA
- Northwest Adventure Center – Fort Lewis, WA
